Nielsen: Android and iOS rule the smart phone market

According to market research firm Nielsen reports, Google Android and Apple iOS systems occupy 86% market share of U.S. smartphone market, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, mobile phone platform to catch up.

The report said Android in the U.S. smartphone market leading position, a steady increase in market share. Nearly 52% of U.S. smartphone users to use Android devices. Second place iOS systems occupy an impressive 34.3% market share.

RIM ranked third, accounting for only 8.1 percent of market share, while the other operating system's market share of only 5.9%.

Clearly, both the absolute advantage ahead of other mobile systems, and good momentum seems to steadily increasing.

In June 2012 purchased a smart phone users, 54.6% of users chose Android devices, 36.2% of people purchased the iPhone.

Windows Phone, the situation is less optimistic. Despite the many positive reviews, has a beautiful "real-time block (live tile)" interface, comprehensive marketing, and applies to major handset manufacturers, Nokia, HTC and Samsung devices, Microsoft Windows Phone platform trend continues to decline.

According to the Nielsen survey, 1.3% of the share of Windows Phone 7 accounted for only U.S. smartphone manufacturers. Half of the market share of less than before Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system, Windows Phone accounted for 3% of market share.

In hardware sales, Apple has an overwhelming advantage. More than one-third (34.3%) of smartphone users to use iPhone. Samsung ranked second, accounting for 17% of the total users, followed by HTC (14%) and Motorola (11%).

As expected, consumers toward the use of smart phones to replace their old phone. According to the Nielsen report, at the moment, two-thirds of new mobile phone users choose to buy a smart phone.
